Systems Thinking is a Big Idea
Today is my birthday. I have also decided it will be the
birth day of this blog. The aim is to share with you an alternative way of
seeing the world and making choices. It is called Systems Thinking and I
learned about it through my business career.
Einstein said “We can’t solve our problems with the level of
knowledge we had when we created them”. Systems Thinking gives us the power not
only to solve problems, but to fix them for good by identifying and resolving
root causes. It helps us to avoid weaker solutions that simply mask symptoms or
create new problems in future. It helps us to improve performance by
identifying the tiny change that changes the world.
I hope to bring this approach to children in UK schools.
This is going to be difficult as there are many barriers in the way. In the
following posts I am going to tell you more about the approach and my ideas. I
am going to share my successes and failures and I hope to gain the benefit of
your ideas and support.
The French word for birth is “naissance”. The French word
for knowledge is “connaissance”, which is literally, “creating together”. I
hope that together we will be able to create a better education for our
children and a better world for everyone.
